About Moneyvart Ceramics

Denise is a small-batch potter based on the north shore of Belfast Lough, Northern Ireland. Working mainly on the wheel, she hand-throws each piece with care and precision. Her work is inspired by the Irish coastline, especially the Glens of Antrim, and her long-standing interest in lighthouses and the maritime forecast.

Originally trained as a nurse in Belfast, Denise rekindled her passion for pottery in adulthood, attending night classes before setting up a home studio in Jordanstown. In 2022, she began full-time study in ceramics at Belfast Met, qualifying with Distinction in 2024.

From her garden studio, Denise creates both functional and decorative ceramics using white stoneware and buff clays. Each piece is individually thrown, bisque fired at 1,000°C, then glaze fired at 1,220°C.

The name Moneyvart Ceramics comes from the townland near Cushendall where she has a house—Monadh na bhFeart, or "hill of the miracle."
