Beebombs are handmade wildflower seedballs that help make creating a wildflower garden so much easier.
The perfect gift for anyone who wants to help restore our lost biodiversity. They work in any area that isn’t in shade and is clear of grass. Just throw your Beebombs onto cleared soil and make sure they get plenty of water. They also work well in pots or garden borders.
How?
Wildflower Bee Bombs need no gardening skill, no tilling or sowing in the traditional sense. Just throw your Bee Bombs onto cleared soil and wait for the blossom of colour to appear and in turn the return of native bee and butterfly species.
Wildflowers are slow growers compared to grasses and perennial weeds, so they can be out-competed at the critical early stages of growing. 'Clearing the soil' gives them the best chance to grow.
In terms of coverage, one pack of Beebombs covers 21 square foot or 2 square meters.
When?
Bee Bombs can be scattered throughout the year, the clay protects them until they are ready to germinate. Opinions differ as to when's the best time, many say spring and autumn are particularly good times to start them growing. However in reality it doesn't seem to make a lot of difference in the long run.
Around 20% will start flowering in the first year. Biennials and Perennials in the mix will start blossoming in the 2nd year.
Beebombs use only sustainable packaging. No 'one use plastics' used.
Seeds are sourced from 15 different smallholders around the EU and Northern Ireland.
